The health, safety, and security of every child are priorities at Gingerbread House Preschool.

A Safe and Welcoming Community

Gingerbread House Preschool is located in Zionsville, a community recognized for its safety, excellent schools, and high quality of life. NewHomeSource ranked Zionsville the safest city in Indiana in its 2023 report.

Zionsville is also one of Indiana’s most highly educated communities, with approximately two-thirds of its adult residents holding a bachelor’s degree or higher.

The Nancy Burton/Dave Brown Trail is part of Zionsville’s extensive pathway system, connecting neighborhoods, parks, schools, and the local Boys & Girls Club. The trail runs along the western edge of the Gingerbread House Preschool playground and provides regular pedestrian and bicycle activity adjacent to the property.

School Security and Supervision

Gingerbread House Preschool is located within Zionsville Christian Church. For the safety of our children and staff, exterior doors remain locked during the school day.

Children are supervised by our teachers at all times and are never left unattended. Teachers personally greet parents and authorized caregivers during arrival and dismissal.

Visitors who need to enter the school between regular drop-off and pick-up times should call the Gingerbread House Preschool office at 317-733-1105. If no one answers, please call Sue Kopecky at 317-509-3807.

A Safe and Clean Environment

Our classrooms, recreation areas, hallways, restrooms, and playground are carefully maintained. We consider the playground an extension of the classroom and provide the same attentive supervision outdoors as we do indoors, with safety always a priority.

Health records are maintained for every child, including important information about allergies and other health considerations. We emphasize cleanliness throughout the school, including clean facilities, equipment, toys, and hands.

Health and Safety Education

Children age three and older are offered on-site speech and hearing screening by Janet Knutson, MS, CCC-SLP, of Children's Speech, Language and Learning Services, Kids Do Better.

Health and safety education is also incorporated into our preschool program. In addition to lessons from their teachers, children benefit from special visits and presentations by community professionals, including a pediatrician, dental hygienist, Zionsville firefighters, and veterinarian.
