Gingerbread House Preschool COVID-19 Policies

To keep our students healthy and to keep the Gingerbread House (GBH) Preschool open, we need the cooperation of our parents.  Our COVID-19 policies follow the recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Please secure a supply of COVID at-home tests. At-home test results are accepted by GBH.

WHEN TO KEEP YOUR GBH STUDENT AT HOME:

1. Please be aware that any cold or flu symptoms may be due to COVID-19 or Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV).  Please keep your child home, no matter if the cause is COVID, RSV, flu, or the common cold.  If your GBH child or any member of your household has any of the symptoms listed below, please notify your child’s teachers, and keep your child at home.

  • Sore throat

  • Cough

  • Fatigue

  • Headache

  • Muscle pain

  • Fever or sweats or chills

  • Diarrhea, nausea and/or vomiting,

  • Abdominal pain

  • Difficulty breathing/shortness of breath

  • Loss of smell or taste

YOUR GBH STUDENT MAY RETURN TO SCHOOL IF HE/SHE:

(1) Has had no fever for a minimum of 24 hours without use of a fever-reducing medication, and

(2) Has no symptoms or mild, improving symptoms.

We encourage but do not require the student to wear a mask at school for the following 5 days (unless he/she has a negative COVID test).

ADDITIONAL POLICIES:

  • Parents that have COVID must inform their child’s teacher. An alternate person should bring the child to school. If an alternate is unavailable, the parent should wear a mask.

  • Per the payment agreement that every family signed, we are unable to provide tuition adjustment due to illness, quarantine, family travel plans, or inclement weather.

  • Students wash their hands or use hand sanitizer upon entering their classrooms. Hands are washed before snack, and after using the restroom.

  • Hand sanitizer is located in all classrooms to be used liberally by children and staff.

  • Classrooms, restrooms, all teaching materials, and toys are cleaned and disinfected daily.

  • We learn and play outdoors when weather permits.

  • Arrival and departure rules: Yellow room students use the front (south) door. Blue room students use the side (east) door. Green room students use the back (north) door. 2s use the front doors. Parents and siblings are not permitted inside the building.

The CDC recommends that all vaccinations be up to date. The CDC recommends a yearly flu (influenza) vaccine for all children 6 months and older, to be received each year before the end of October. The new COVID vaccines introduced in the fall of 2023 are approved for infants and children over 6 months of age, and GBH encourages (does not require) parents to have their children vaccinated.
