Excerpts of Reviews Written by Parents of GBH Students on Google Search

If you would like to see what parents of current and former students have said about Gingerbread House Preschool, open any web browser and type: google.com. In the space labeled "Search" type: preschools Zionsville Indiana, or click on this link:  GBH reviews. Four years ago Google officially stopped allowing schools to have Google reviews. The reason, according to Google, is that schools are considered “critical services” and, therefore, any review could potentially impact their reputation and ability to provide education to students. In spite of Google’s policy, some reviews still occasionally are posted online.

Below are excerpts from parent reviews on Google search:

“A kind, loving, and fun learning environment. I toured several preschools and ended up falling in love with this one. Small class sizes, excellent teachers, fantastic program director, and a wonderful learning environment! My daughter truly excelled, and most importantly loved going to school! I highly recommend this preschool. They come out of this preschool truly ready for kindergarten!”

“What a gem of a school! My daughter attended for two years - preschool and pre-kindergarten. I could not be more pleased that we chose Gingerbread. The teachers and staff are truly wonderful people, and it's clear that they genuinely care about each of their students. From guests coming in to speak to the kids (firefighters, doctors, dentists, etc. in the community) to the outstanding curriculum (cooking with the kids!), it's apparent the teachers have put so much heart and soul into providing an enriching and FUN school atmosphere where each kid can thrive. Gingerbread has more than adequately prepared her for kindergarten and laid an excellent foundation for a love of learning.”

“Love the Gingerbread House Preschool. Both our kids enjoyed going to school there each day and they were well prepared -- socially, emotionally, academically -- for the transition to kindergarten. The staff are experienced and kind, and it's just obvious that they truly care about the kids. This place is the way you imagine a preschool should be.”

“Our three daughters have attended preschool at Gingerbread House over the last eight years, and each one of them has had an incredible experience. We love the small class sizes and the old-school style (scissors, glue, glitter, paint, etc. - no computers; letting kids be kids!). The teachers provide an interesting and creative curriculum and are not only striving to help your child grow academically, but personally as well. They place emphasis on building self-confidence and independence, along with teaching manners and kindness. Our youngest just graduated from the Jr. Kindergarten program and she is more than ready for kindergarten. Our older two daughters are thriving at their grade school, because of the awesome start Gingerbread House gave them. We feel Gingerbread House was a real blessing to our three daughters!”

“My daughter attended Gingerbread for two years and it was a wonderful experience. She loved the teachers and the school and she was always excited to attend. The school felt familiar and like a community and we will miss it as she moves onto kindergarten. I feel that Gingerbread has well prepared her for school academically and even more so socially and emotionally. She has gained confidence and independence at Gingerbread. I feel confident in sending her to school, knowing that Gingerbread has helped prepare her academically and for participating in the routines of a classroom.”

“Gingerbread house is an amazing preschool program! The teachers are not only highly qualified and experienced, they are also caring and patient with the little ones in their care. My three children had a fantastic experience there over the last five years. They have a play-based learning philosophy (no worksheets!) and a terrific 1:6 teacher:student ratio. I will miss the school and the staff now that the kids are in elementary school.”

“My second child just finished her last year at Gingerbread and we've had a great experience there for over three years! My son was more than prepared for Kindergarten, as is my daughter now. They have a wonderful play/academic mix, as well as fun and creative art projects. The teacher ratio is great and most importantly my children loved attending. They were disappointed when it wasn't a school day! We loved the staff and the flexible options for classes.”

“My daughter just finished her junior kindergarten year at Gingerbread House Preschool. It was a wonderful year! The small student:teacher ratio allowed the teachers to get to know all the children so well and to do a lot of one on one learning activities with each child. Every week our house was filled with awesome artwork. We enjoyed watching our daughter gain social confidence, make lots of new friends, master her letters and numbers, and gain more independence during her junior kindergarten year.”

“Searching for a preschool is challenging, especially for first time parents. I asked around a lot and everyone in Zionsville kept recommending Gingerbread House. I can see why. Our oldest daughter just finished junior kindergarten there and loved going every day. She definitely learned a lot over the year. Great teaching staff and nice central location. We will be returning with our youngest in a few years.”

“Both of my boys have attended Gingerbread House Preschool and loved it. There is a great mix of learning and fun. The school is small and sweet, a great place for little ones to get their first experience in an educational setting. My boys were both ready for Kindergarten, socially and academically.”

“It's wonderful to have watched how my children have grown so much during their time at this preschool over the last few years both socially and academically. It is clear to see how much the teachers care for the children, and the small class sizes really give each child a chance to shine. Independence is encouraged, and both children left here 100% Kindergarten ready. The children learn through play, which I feel is very important at this age. Fine motor skills are developed with lots of cutting shapes, beading, crafts (my kitchen cupboards are fit to burst with amazing art work displayed that has been brought home!), as well as reading, cooking, writing, outdoor playtime, field trips, special guest speakers etc. My children loved their time here, so much so my First Grader still asks to go back and see her teachers!”

“We had relocated to Zionsville, and we found Gingerbread House. The warmth, professionalism, and stability of the staff was what struck us right away. After having our son spend time at the school, I cannot speak highly enough about the quality of the program, and the confidence we felt sending him to a school that added so much academically and socially to his preschool years.”

“When relocating to the area a few months into the school year we found Gingerbread House and I was amazed at how quickly and easily our daughter adjusted to the new class and teachers. The teachers did a wonderful job of providing a nurturing environment for the kids while ensuring they grew to be prepared for Kindergarden - and beyond! Our child loved the time she had and the friends she made. We are lucky to have found Gingerbread House and look forward to our younger daughter also attending in a couple of years!”

“Gingerbread House Preschool in Zionsville has been a wonderful place for our two boys to learn and grow. GBH has a nurturing, family atmosphere with a low 12:2 student to teacher ratio. The play-based philosophy allowed my children to work on their fine and gross motor development, foster their independence, and most importantly create relationships with other students. My older child was ready for the big step into all-day kindergarten and has excelled in the classroom due in part to his preparation at GBH. I see the same skills in my younger child, as he prepares to enter elementary in academically strong Zionsville Community Schools. We are so pleased we chose GBH!”

“I have had 4 of my 5 children attend GBH. (We lived out of state during one of my daughter's preschool years.) I love the teachers and the curriculum. All my children were kindergarten ready. They knew their shapes, colors, letters, numbers, could write their names, new how to act in a classroom environment and much, much more!! The difference is they learned through play. Fine motor skills are learned by one on one art projects, cutting, drawing, stamping, using stickers, lacing, sorting and many other fun activities. There are sensory tables with sand, rice, play-dough and "cotton treasure hunts". There are play kitchens, trucks, Legos, castles, pirate ships, farms, trains and dress-up play. They do puzzles and play small group learning games and of course read lots and lots of books. There is music and movement, out-door play and parachute play. Doctors, dentists, firemen and zookeepers do presentations for the children. Trips to Marsh, Zionsville Public Library, Akard's Hardware, Lamb Farm, and a Nature walk are always fun. The children learn to be polite, wait their turn and play well with other classmates. In JK, they even learn some sign language and have a cooking day. It has been a fun, positive environment for my children and I highly recommend it!!!”

“We were fortunate enough to have each of our boys attend Gingerbread House Preschool for two years. Our first son was prepared for the academic side of it, but he really needed the social aspect as he wasn’t around a lot of family and friends and he was able to get acclimated to school with ease thanks to the Gingerbread House staff and class and has truly excelled as he is about to start middle school now. I honestly had my concerns for our second son, but with the help of the Gingerbread House staff I am so thrilled with how far he has come both academically and socially as he now prepares for kindergarten. The school does a great job with these kids and they genuinely care about them and it really pays off for us as parents. It’s so neat to see all of the things they make and how excited they are to tell you about their day. They helped set up our boys for success in school and beyond…”

“Our daughter went 4 years to this wonderful school…Each year, from the 2s class to Jr Kindergarten, we observed our daughter learn so many wonderful things at gingerbread, from hand signs, to using the scissors, to learning to color, understanding patterns, developing an interest in cooking…teaching her the right way to hold a pencil, to sitting criss cross, art work, projects, group play, every day bringing back tons of activity sheets, outdoor play and snow day activities, kids appeared really happy and energized as they came outside after school…One can’t summarize so many great things in a few paragraphs, we are indebted to Gingerbread…”
